Procederes endoscópicos en tiempos del Covid-19
Abstract
Actualmente se vive una emergencia en la salud pública mundial debido a la pandemia de Covid -19 causada por el coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. La enfermedad ha causado milenarias muertes y millones de contagiados en todo el orbe. La afectación fundamental es en el sistema respiratorio, sin embargo, el virus también puede afectar otros órganos como el tracto gastrointestinal y el hígado. La endoscopia digestiva es un procedimiento de alto riesgo para la transmisión de la enfermedad, todos los procedimientos endoscópicos entrañan gran riesgo de transmisión debido a la presencia del SARS-CoV-2 en el exudado nasofaríngeo. Durante la endoscopia se generan aerosoles, a lo que se une la posibilidad de transmisión a partir del contacto estrecho de persona a persona y por superficies contaminadas con salpicaduras de fluidos. El objetivo de la revisión es actualizarnos sobre el impacto de la infección por SARS-Cov-2 en los servicios de endoscopias, en los pacientes y en la nueva forma de trabajo. Mientras dure la pandemia, debemos adaptar sus indicaciones y promover medidas de protección para pacientes y profesionales de la salud. La pandemia de Covid-19 ha variado las prioridades y formas de trabajo, aún se desconocen las repercusiones después del regreso a la normalidad.
