In summary, there is an acceptance of life and the individual remains physically, psychologically and socially active, with independence and autonomy in the activities of daily life.
As many authors agree and Vaillant and Mukamal somehow summarize, aging must be seen from three dimensions: decline, change and development. They relate the decrease with the deterioration in the function of some organs, with the reduction of sensory perception and the speed of reaction to stimuli. The physical appearance changes, it changes progressively, gray hair and wrinkles appear, and the distribution of body fat changes; Important changes are also observed in the functioning of organs and body systems. Old age should also be seen as a stage of development and maturity. Many elderly people are more patient and tolerant, they have greater acceptance of others, they have more experience and this allows them to see life in a different way, they appreciate relativity and understand that the present has a past and a future.
