Oncoplasty surgery of the breast
Keywords:
oncoplastic of the breast, conservative surgery, mastectomy, breast cancerAbstract
Surgical treatment of breast tumors has undergone several modifications over time. It began as an aggressive and mutilating procedure, and envolved into an increasingly conservative surgery, until in the present it reached oncoplastic surgery, which is no longer than the fusion of oncological surgery with reconstructive plastic surgery of the breast. This achieves a better psychological tolerance of patients faced with the disease and their capacities for social relationship, since it avoids the unfavorable psychological effects of mastectomy, how are the loss of femininity and problems of self-esteem. It also allows satisfactory local control with less mutilation, without modifying the survival or the rate of distant metastases.
