Abstract

In situations where a pandemic is declared, feelings of anxiety and uncertainty can overwhelm people, and health systems may struggle to cope with exponential and out-of-control demand. Without adequate planning and mitigation measures, health services may be exposed to the risk of collapse caused by an overload of consultations that could be handled by virtual means. Health facilities may be overwhelmed and have insufficient capacity to provide adequate treatment to those who need it most. Mortality in the world and Latin America due to oncological diseases is progressively increasing. Thus, telecommunications have allowed medical personnel to provide health services at a distance, either in real or deferred time; activities that give rise to telemedicine. Access to health services for these patients or for those not yet diagnosed becomes difficult in epidemiological situations such as the one we are experiencing with Sars-Cov 2.
