Proposed clinical practical guide for post intensive care syndrome in COVID-19
Abstract
Introduction: After hospitalization in intensive care with COVID 19, adverse emotional effects have been described. Methods. An investigation was carried out in Health Systems and Services, in applied research modality, carried out at the Manuel Fajardo Rivero Hospital in Santa Clara, during the months of April and May 2020. Methods of the theoretical and empirical level were used (analysis of content and weighting). In the first moment, a review of the documents issued by the MINSAP was carried out and in the second moment a nominal group was developed. Once the guide was designed, it was evaluated by a group of specialists. In order to obtain valid information, the small-scale pilot test was started. Results. The most important contributions were the recommendations that include the three phases that make up the guide and the selection of rehabilitation techniques. The specialists assessed the guide as adequate. The information obtained in the pilot test was compiled and the necessary changes to be introduced are evaluated, both in the guide and in the implementation scheme. Conclusions. The process of planning and executing the development of a practical guide is complex and laborious, carrying it out and validating it in response to a health problem that requires rapid intervention such as post-intensive care syndrome in COVID is a challenge.
