Abstract

The Specialized Center for Diagnosis and Therapy (CEDT) of the Center for Medical Surgical Research (CIMEQ), aims to develop diagnostic and treatment capacities for cancer and other diseases in a safe way, and also performs specific functions, including: cancer treatment. The detection of the first case of COVID-19 in Cuba on March 11, 2020, imposed a new challenge on the center's work. To maintain care for cancer patients who are in the treatment phase, whether in clinical oncology, immunotherapy or radiotherapy, an innovative strategy was designed that made it possible to face the new scenario. This contribution aims to share the experiences accumulated in the development and implementation of the strategy to maintain cancer treatment services in the scenario imposed by COVID-19.
