Therapeutic alternative, homeopathy for medical emergencies during stomatological care
Abstract
Homeopathy is a widely used therapeutic option today. Objectives: Address current elements on the indications, contraindications, adverse effects of homeopathy in the treatment of medical emergencies and their possible use of these events during dental care. Impact journals from the Web of Science related to this topic (18 journals) were evaluated in Jun 2020. 3 books were reviewed. Mostly articles from the last 5 years. The MEDLINE, PubMed and SciELO databases were consulted, descriptors such as “homeopathy”, “medical emergencies”, stomatology care” and “emergency treatment” were used. Articles in English and Spanish were included. 27 articles were obtained. Homeopathy is a modality of natural and traditional medicine useful in the treatment of acute, chronic and urgent disease; where different dilutions of medicines of animal, vegetable or mineral origin are used as monotherapy or combined with the usual therapy. Its effectiveness will mainly depend on the correct choice of medication, which should be as similar as possible to the patient's symptoms. Homeopathy is indicated in the emergency treatment of various diseases. It does not present contraindications although some author does not recommend it in children or pregnant women. For its effectiveness and lack of adverse effects, can be a useful and less expensive tool in the treatment of some medical emergencies during dental care.
