Comportamiento de la disfunción respiratoria en pacientes con edades entre 5 y 15 años

Abstract

RESUMEN

Introducción. La respiración bucal es una disfunción respiratoria que, ya sea por un hábito o por obstrucción de las vías aéreas superiores, puede instalarse en el paciente de forma crónica. Un interrogatorio y examen clínico detallado de esta disfunción y los aspectos clínicos son necesarios para el estomatólogo. Métodos. Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo de corte transversal de todos los pacientes con edades entre los cinco y quince años, de los que fueron analizados aquellos diagnosticados con disfunción respiratoria. Resultados se encontró que el sexo masculino fue el más afectado y que la causa más relevante de esta disfunción es la obstrucción de las vías aéreas altas. Conclusiones. La disfunción respiratoria es uno de los problemas que se incrementa con los años, por lo que este proceso respiratorio debe tenerse en cuenta, en todos los niveles de atención de salud, incluyendo los procesos estomatológicos.
