Aspectos psicológicos en el cuidado del adulto mayor
Abstract
El envejecimiento es un proceso progresivo, intrínseco, declinante, irreversible y universal, en el que ocurren modificaciones biológicas, psicológicas y sociales. Cuba, a través de programas y subprogramas de atención a la salud trata de garantizar la calidad de vida de este grupo etario dentro y fuera de las instituciones de salud. Sin embargo, existe un creciente grupo de adultos mayores que recibe cuidados en mayor o menor grado de dependencia, en su propio hogar, por familiares que no siempre tienen los conocimientos necesarios para brindar una atención de calidad al anciano bajo su cuidado, y que muchas veces no prestan la debida atención a los aspectos psicológicos en esta etapa de la vida. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica, con el objetivo de mostrar algunas herramientas para la atención de la esfera psicológica del adulto mayor. Cualquier persona puede convertirse en un cuidador, pero no todos podrán ser buenos cuidadores, si no se atienden todos los aspectos que influyen para una atención con la debida calidad en el adulto mayor.
