Caracterización clínico terapéutica y sobrevida en pacientes con diagnóstico de mieloma múltiple

Abstract

Introducción. El mieloma múltiple es una enfermedad incurable secundaria a células plasmáticas clonales transformadas. Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud, el mieloma múltiple representa el 1 % de las neoplasias malignas y entre el 10-15 % de las neoplasias hematológicas, rara vez afecta a sujetos menores de 30 años de edad y en el 90 % afecta a sujetos mayores de 50 años. Métodos. Se estudiaron 79 pacientes con diagnóstico de mieloma múltiple en el Servicio de Hematología del Centro de Investigaciones Médico Quirúrgicas. La información se obtuvo a partir de las historias clínicas. Resultados. El sexo masculino, el color de piel blanca, grupo etario mayor de 60 años y la forma clínica de presentación sintomática activa sobresalieron en los pacientes estudiados. El esquema de inducción inicial más utilizado fue melfalán /prednisona /talidomida /zometa y el trasplante autologo de progenitores hematopoyéticos. Conclusiones. La supervivencia general y  la supervivencia libre de recaídas fueron superiores a la mortalidad al año del diagnóstico, con una disminución paulatina durante todo el período estudiado.
