Control glucémico y complicaciones macrovasculares en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo II

Abstract

Introducción. Las alteraciones en el control glucémico contribuyen a la aparición de complicaciones macrovasculares en pacientes con diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus tipo II. Métodos. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, de corte transversal, en 98 pacientes con diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus tipo II ingresados en el CIMEQ, en el período comprendido entre enero del 2015 y diciembre del 2016. Resultados. El 58,2 % eran del sexo femenino, con predominio de los grupos de edad de 61 a 70 años (n=39), el tiempo de evolución de la diabetes fue mayor de 20 años en 58 pacientes; el tratamiento de elección  fue la metformina, la que se relacionó con un mejor control glucémico. El mal control glucémico se relacionó con una mayor probabilidad de hipertensión arterial, obesidad e hipertrigliceridemia. El mal control glucémico estuvo presente en el 64,3 % y las complicaciones macrovasculares en el 70,4 %, con una estrecha relación entre ambos (p<0,001). Conclusiones. El mal control glucémico en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo II, mantuvo  una estrecha relación con las  complicaciones macrovasculares, al igual que con tiempos de evolución mayores de 20 años de inicio de la enfermedad.
