Abstract

La Isquemia Mesentérica Aguda es una entidad poco común que surge por una interrupción brusca del flujo arterial o venoso. Su curso suele ser dramático y su prevalencia ha aumentado debido al envejecimiento progresivo de la población. Las complicaciones de la enfermedad son frecuentes y graves, por lo que se considera una emergencia quirúrgica ya que tiene una tasa de mortalidad mayor al 70 %. Por ello, es importante conocer los posibles factores predisponentes y antecedentes personales del paciente, para lograr un diagnóstico temprano y un tratamiento agresivo, antes que la isquemia intestinal sea irreversible. En Cuba, es escasa la evidencia científica sobre el diagnóstico y manejo de esta enfermedad. Por lo que exponemos el caso de una paciente que se sometió a tratamiento endovascular efectivo.
