Radiografía de tórax en la detección de tuberculosis: una herramienta importante en grupos vulnerables

Abstract

La Tuberculosis se mantiene como causa de morbilidad a nivel mundial. Al ser una enfermedad infecciosa curable, la detección precoz es fundamental para reducir su incidencia. La radiografía de tórax es una técnica de imagen rápida, que permite identificar anormalidades de la cavidad torácica, incluyendo los pulmones. Es una importante herramienta recomendada por la Organización Mundial de la Salud para la clasificación y pesquisa de la tuberculosis. Se define a la pesquisa de esta enfermedad, como la sistemática identificación de personas con sospecha de tuberculosis activa en un grupo predeterminado, utilizando pruebas, exámenes u otros procederes que pueden ser aplicados con rapidez. Dirigido a un grupo determinado de personas como los grupos vulnerables, que tienen más probabilidad de enfermar de tuberculosis que la población general. El presente artículo actualiza las recomendaciones y directrices del diagnóstico radiológico, haciendo énfasis en los grupos vulnerables.
