Eficacia de la aplicación intradiscal de plasma rico en plaquetas como tratamiento del dolor discogénico lumbar

Abstract

Introducción. Con el propósito de evaluar la eficacia de la aplicación del plasma rico en plaquetas intradiscal como tratamiento del dolor discogénico lumbar, se realizó un ensayo clínico terapéutico a doble ciego. Métodos. Los enfermos fueron asignados de manera aleatoria a dos grupos de estudio. Al grupo A se le aplicó plasma rico en plaquetas intradiscal y al B ozono intradiscal. Ambos procedimientos fueron realizados con anestesia local, bajo control fluoroscópico.
Para evaluar la mejoría clínica se tuvo en cuenta la escala análoga visual y el test de Latinen; para identificar a la mejoría radiológica se determinó si se había producido un aumento de la altura del disco intervertebral superior al 50 % o si existió mejoría en la clasificación de Pfirman. Además se determinaron los eventos adversos ocurridos en ambos grupos. Resultados. El grupo de plasma rico en plaquetas intradiscal obtuvo un número mayor de pacientes con mejoría clínica y radiológica, existiendo significación estadística, además se produjeron menos eventos adversos (p<0,001). Conclusiones. La administración de plasma rico en plaquetas intradiscal resultó un procedimiento más eficaz que la ozonoterapia intradiscal para aliviar el dolor discogénico lumbar.
