Creación e implementación de la Red Asistencial Nacional de Rehabilitación de la Cara y Prótesis Bucomaxilofacial en Cuba

Abstract

Introducción. En Cuba, la prótesis maxilofacial antes del triunfo revolucionario prácticamente no se realizaba; es por ello que se propuso y se confeccionó el Programa Nacional de Rehabilitación de la Cara y Prótesis Bucomaxilofacial,
fundamentado en la creación de la Red Asistencial Nacional, que brinda atención multidisciplinaria a los pacientes con defectos craneomaxilofaciales.
Métodos. Se tuvo como referencia un estudio epidemiológico de las
necesidades de prótesis bucomaxilofacial en la capital del país. Resultados. Se evaluó la necesidad de los recursos humanos y materiales, así como la categorización de los servicios de salud y se estableció el sistema nacional de funcionamiento de la Red, que da cobertura a las necesidades protésicas bucomaxilofaciales de la población cubana. Conclusiones. Se instauró el 202 sistema nacional de funcionamiento de la Red, que dio cobertura a las necesidades protésicas bucomaxilofaciales de la población cubana.
