Internet como herramienta en la medicina de trasplante: visibilidad en la literatura científica

Abstract

Introducción. Sitios web sobre trasplantes, bases de datos y otros recursos están a disposición de pacientes y profesionales de la salud vinculados al trasplante. Sin embargo podríamos preguntarnos: ¿es mostrada la utilidad de Internet en la literatura médica? Métodos. Se realizó una búsqueda por PubMed con las frases: organ transplantation, liver transplantation, kidney transplantation, heart transplantation, lung transplantation, y posteriormente utilizando Internet AND las frases anteriores. Se revisaron los trabajos y se cuantificaron los relacionados directamente con Internet, clasificándolos de acuerdo a los que brindaban información o reflejaban una interrelación entre usuarios y la Red. Se comentan las utilidades. Resultados. Con la frase organ transplantation se obtuvieron 193 274 artículos. Los resultados de cada trasplante (liver, kidney, heart y lung, fueron: 65 681, 89 077, 48 068, y 48 068 artículos respectivamente). Al estrechar la búsqueda contemplando las frases anteriores y la palabra Internet se obtuvieron: organ, 175 artículos, liver, 33 artículos, kidney, 67 artículos, heart, 38 artículos y lung, 16 artículos. De ellos, 26,6% relacionados directamente con Internet, 51,21% sobre Internet como fuente de información y 48, 78% relacionados a Internet como herramienta de trabajo interactiva. Conclusiones: Existe evidencia de los beneficios de Internet como fuente de información para profesionales sanitarios y pacientes en relación al trasplante y como herramienta de trabajo interactiva. La producción de artículos sobre estas bondades es pobre y demuestra la necesidad de acreditación científica de estos sitios.
