Abstract

La imagenología cuenta con algo más que cien años y la estomatología es una de las primeras especialidades beneficiadas con su implementación. En la actualidad se emplean desde las radiografías convencionales hasta la tomografía de haz volumétrico técnicas que influyen directamente en la salud de la población. Con esta revisión se exponen las diferentes técnicas así como sus aplicaciones, ventajas y desventajas. Se revisaron un total de 49 artículos, se seleccionaron 25. La búsqueda bibliográfica se realizó entre marzo y abril del 2013. Se consultaron las bases de datos Pub Med, Medline, Scielo y Elseiver.
