Introduction: Papillary serous adenocarcinoma of the uterine tube is a rare neoplasm. It manifests itself with intermittent vaginal bleeding, although some cases are asymptomatic.
Objective: Have a rare case of papillary serous adenocarcinoma of the uterine tube.
Case presentation: A 63-year-old female patient, mestizo, with a history of compensated arterial hypertension. She went to the health services with recurrent pain located in the hypogastrium. Physical examination of the abdomen revealed an increase in volume in the hypogastrium that exceeded five finger crossings of the pubic symphysis. Vaginal examination showed an increase in volume at the level of the lateral sac fundus with a predominance of the left side. On digital rectal examination, extrinsic compression was palpated at the level of the anterior aspect of the rectum. Abdominal ultrasound was performed where a complex image was observed towards the left adnexus, with a cystic appearance, with thick walls. A computed tomography scan was performed, which reported a cystic image, with thick walls, well-defined contours, in the hypogastrium, which caused compression of the upper wall of the bladder. A total hysterectomy with double adnexectomy was performed, and the definitive diagnosis was invasive papillary serous adenocarcinoma of the left tube.
Conclusions: Papillary serous adenocarcinoma of the uterine tube is a rare and aggressive entity. Early diagnosis and appropriate surgical treatment are key to improving the prognosis.
