Introduction: Rhinoplasty is considered one of the 5 most popular surgeries nowadays and most of them are not life-threatening. Objective: to evaluate the complications related to rhinoplasty in patients who underwent surgery at the “Dr. Miguel Enríquez” University Hospital.
Methods: observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study that included patients admitted to the “Dr. Miguel Enríquez” University Hospital, from January 2022 to December 2023, with a sample of 45 patients. The data were collected and entered into a database developed in the IBM SPSS v23 program. They were summarized through descriptive statistics techniques: absolute frequencies, percentages (qualitative variables), mean and standard deviation (quantitative variables). The results were presented in the form of tables. Results: The most frequent sex was female (51, 1 %), the age group was 19-30 years (60 %) and white skin color (71, 1 %). No complications were reported in 73, 3 % of patients. The most frequent complication was in soft tissues (17, 8 %) and in white patients (15, 6 %). The most frequent surgical technique was closed in 82, 2 %), primary rhinoplasty (76, 5 %), local anesthesia (51, 1 %) and 75, 6 % underwent septoplasty.
Conclusions: The most common complication was in the soft tissues. Nubo no septal complications. White patients were the ones who presented the most complications. The most frequent complications were during the transoperative period (mucosal tearing and unwanted fractures).
