Abstract

Introduction: Congenital malformations are structural defects present at birth and have been known since the dawn of humanity. Among them, the condition of cleft lip and palate constitutes one of the most common congenital alterations that affect the structures of the face.

Objective: To describe the diagnostic process and treatment applied in monozygotic twin patients with cleft lip and palate.

Clinical Case: Monozygotic twin female patients, born by dystocic delivery (cesarean section) with congenital facial malformations: one with incomplete right unilateral cleft lip associated with a complete unilateral right cleft palate and the other girl with: Unilateral incomplete left cleft lip. They were treated according to the protocol established in the Cuban School of Cleft Lip and Palate, being in multidisciplinary follow-up to date.

Conclusions: Acceptable aesthetic and functional results were achieved with the corrective surgical techniques performed.
