Transcultural care
Abstract
There are reports of how public hospital directors in Israel openly express their disagreement with treating Palestinian patients or war wounded who are not from their country. It is not within the ethical principles of healthcare personnel to deny medical care to anyone in need. This document aims to reflect on aspects related to medical services, and especially nursing care.
Nursing professionals in Cuba provide care to people living in different regions, with other cultures, during international missions, and in hospitals within the country. In this way, transcultural nursing, in its purpose of identifying new ways of helping people of different cultures and providing appropriate care, contributes to ensuring that patients cared for by nursing professionals do not experience negative situations in healthcare settings, a practical expression of the respect demanded by the pluralistic society of the 21st century.
