Introduction: stellate ganglion block is indicated in patients with chronic pain in the head, neck and upper limbs.
Objective: to present a case in which the ultrasound-guided blockade method of the stellate ganglion was used.
Clinical case: female patient, 65 years old, amputated due to supraclavicular tumor of the left upper limb, with phantom limb pain without response to conservative treatment. Four blocks were performed, the visual analogue scale before treatment was 6-7/10 and after it was 2-3/10. An evident clinical improvement was achieved without adverse effects.
Conclusions: Ultrasound as an imaging guide constitutes a useful alternative for stellate ganglion block in patients with phantom limb pain
