Estadiamiento actual del carcinoma hepatocelular

Abstract

El carcinoma hepatocelular es un tumor maligno primario del hígado que constituye actuales un problema de salud mundial. Su pronóstico es dependiente de múltiples factores como: las características del tumor al momento del diagnóstico, el grado de insuficiencia hepática asociado a la cirrosis y el estado general del enfermo. Recientemente se ha desarrollado por el grupo de cáncer hepático del Hospital Clínico de Barcelona (BCLC) un sistema de estadiamiento, que ha mostrado ventajas y superioridad con respecto al resto de los sistemas. Brinda también la posibilidad de recomendar las opciones aceptadas de tratamiento, en dependencia de la estratificación de esta neoplasia.
