Sobredentadura. A propósito de tres pacientes

Abstract

La sobredentadura es un tratamiento protésico removible total o parcial, que cubre una, varias o todas las coronas o raíces de los dientes remanentes, previamente tratados pulporradicularmente o no. Esta terapéutica es conocida también como prótesis telescópica o híbrida. La terapéutica no es nueva pero es una alternativa vigente por los beneficios que se obtienen, fundamentalmente la conservación de los dientes remanentes y con ello la cresta del hueso alveolar.  Se muestran los resultados en tres pacientes desdentados parciales, clínicamente complejos, atendidos en el servicio de prótesis estomatológicas del Centro de Investigaciones Médico Quirúrgicas en el año 2009. A los tres pacientes se les confeccionaron historias clínicas, estudios complementarios, realizando el diagnóstico, plan de tratamiento, pronóstico y consentimiento informado.Los tres pacientes fueron rehabilitados estética y funcionalmente. Conclusiones.Se demuestra la vigencia de este tratamiento, como respuesta alternativa en la atención al paciente desdentado parcial basado en la premisa, de que el mejor sostén para las fuerzas oclusales lo constituyen las raíces de los dientes.
