El uso de materiales bioactivos en la estomatología conservadora contemporánea. Biodentine®

Abstract

Los materiales bioactivos son sustancias que al ponerse en contacto con los tejidos vivos, provocan un efecto positivo sobre los mismos induciendo una respuesta biológica específica en la interfase material-tejido. Se dispone de varios medicamentos que reúnen estas características, tal es el caso de Biodentine®. Caracterizar la Biodentine® como biomaterial y dejar sentadas las pautas para su utilización. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre los materiales bioactivos utilizados en la estomatología conservadora, considerándose para este trabajo la Biodentine® en Internet. La búsqueda se orientó a artículos publicados en los últimos 5 años sin hacer distinciones de idioma, se consultaron las bases de datos de sistemas referativos MEDLINE, PubMed y SciELO; los tópicos consultados estuvieron referidos a estudios de las propiedades, forma de presentación, composición, reacción de fraguado, mecanismo de acción, indicaciones así como el modo de empleo de la Biodentine®. La Biodentine® es un sustituto bioactivo de la dentina, reuniendo las mismas características físico-químicas de este tejido  favoreciendo su regeneración.
