Efectividad de estrategia antitabáquica en estudiantes

Abstract

Introducción. El consumo de tabaco se inicia en edades tempranas y constituye factor de riesgo de muchas enfermedades. Métodos. Se realizó una investigación cuasiexperimental, el universo estuvo constituido por 230 alumnos de primer año Facultad de Estomatología, curso 2016-2017, se seleccionó una muestra de 50 estudiantes por muestreo probabilístico, 25 de ambos sexos, y se les aplicó una encuesta que permitió caracterizar el consumo de cigarrillos, se diseñó y puso en práctica, la estrategia antitabáquica, se aplicó una segunda encuesta, incluyendo PNI. Resultados. Después de aplicada la estrategia disminuyó la cantidad de alumnos fumadores de un 54.0 % a un 26.0 %,  lográndose una disminución del consumo en ambos sexos. Un 69.2 % fumaban hacía más de 12 meses, con cifras superiores en el sexo masculino, el motivo que predominó fue compartir con los amigos en fiestas Conclusiones. El consumo de cigarro disminuyó a la mitad con respecto a la cantidad de alumnos que fumaban antes de aplicarse la estrategia, resultado similar en ambos sexos. La mitad de los alumnos que continuaron fumando deseaban dejar de hacerlo.  El conocimiento se elevó en la totalidad de los alumnos. La opinión sobre la estrategia aplicada fue positiva en su totalidad y la efectividad de la misma fue elevada.
