Efectividad de la radiación laser en el tratamiento de las aftas bucales

Abstract

Introducción. Las aftas bucales son una de las lesiones más frecuentes de la cavidad bucal, de origen desconocido, que aparecen durante el curso de ciertas enfermedades.. Métodos. Se realizó un estudio de intervención terapéutica, para medir la efectividad del láser de baja potencia en 80 pacientes que asistieron a las consultas de la Clínica Estomatológica Docente H y 21, con diagnóstico de afta bucal. A todos se les aplicaron parámetros analgésicos y antiinflamatorios, con sesiones diarias que variaron entre uno y cinco frecuencias. Resultados. El 80 % de los pacientes presentó remisión de los síntomas dolorosos en más del 50 % entre la primera y tercera visita. Las lesiones desaparecieron totalmente en el 62.5 % de los pacientes alrededor del quinto y sexto día aproximadamente. Conclusiones: Se demostró la efectividad del tratamiento y un aumento en la calidad de vida de los pacientes.
