Lesiones bucales en pacientes atendidos en el servicio de Estomatología

Abstract

Introducción. Las lesiones bucales premalignas y malignas de la cavidad bucal se presentan frecuentemente en la población. Métodos. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal, en los pacientes registrados por el Programa de Detección de Cáncer Bucal. Se estudiaron 56 pacientes; las variables fueron: sexo, edad, diagnósticos presuntivo-definitivos, lesión más frecuente y hábitos tóxicos. Resultados. El 75 % son del sexo masculino, el 60,7 % correspondió al grupo de 60 a 69 años de edad. La coincidencia entre los diagnósticos fue de 78,6 %. El 55,1 % de los pacientes portadores de leucoplasia, confirmados por biopsia, eran fumadores y alcohólicos y el 65 % tenían hábito de fumar; en el caso de los portadores de carcinoma epidermoide, el 40 % tenían hábitos tóxicos. El 20,5 % de los pacientes falleció; 66,7 % tenían hábito de fumar y 33,3 % fumaban y bebían. Conclusiones. El mayor número de remitidos fue del sexo masculino y mayores de 60 años, los factores de riesgo más frecuentes fueron el consumo de alcohol y tabaco. Las lesiones de mayor incidencia fueron la leucoplasia del labio superior y el carcinoma epidermoide de base de lengua y los fallecidos por leucoplasia y carcinoma poseían hábito de fumar y/o consumían bebidas alcohólicas.
