Abstract

El Colegio Americano de Radiología, el Reporte de Imágenes de mamas y el Sistema de Datos (BI-RADS) editaron en el 2013, la quinta edición del BI-RADS, cuyos objetivos principales permanecieron iguales. Las modificaciones realizadas proporcionan claridad en la terminología usada en los estudios de mama, introduciendo nuevos conceptos y anulando otros. Lleva a la regularización del léxico, independientemente del idioma y mejoras en la interpretación de la imagen. Además proporciona una guía en el uso del seguimiento del BI-RADS, explicando las categorías de valoración, cómo y en qué circunstancias deben usarse. Motivados por el tema se hace la revisión la presente revisión de las modificaciones del BI-RADS en su quinta edición.
