Gammapatía monoclonal: un diagnóstico a tener en cuenta

Abstract

Introducción. La identificación de las gammapatías monoclonales con riesgo elevado de progresión ha sido objeto de estudio en los últimos años.
Métodos. Se estudiaron 40 pacientes en los que se detectó una banda monoclonal por el sistema Hydrasys, la mayoría de ellas de novo. Resultados. Del total de electroforesis de proteína realizadas en el año 2010 se obtuvo un 14 % de gammapatías monoclonales. En el 36% de las mismas no constaba una estimación diagnóstica. En el grupo de diagnosticados la más frecuente fue el mieloma múltiple. La edad media de los pacientes fue de 61,5 años y hubo diferencias entre porcentajes por sexo.
Conclusiones. Los datos sugieren realizar un seguimiento clínico estricto
basándose en los protocolos existentes, cuando el resultado es la aparición de una banda monoclonal.
