Fijador Externo Lineal CIMEQ

Abstract

Se presentan los resultados de un nuevo fijador externo óseo lineal de polipropileno de alta densidad desarrollado en el Centro de Investigaciones Médico-Quirúrgicas, que cumple con los principios de la fijación externa moderna, en el que se sustituye el metal por un polímero; en su diseño estructural se disminuyen las complejidades técnicas que hacen más fácil y rápida su aplicación por el cirujano en el momento quirúrgico, lo que influye en que sea un aparato de preferencia en las urgencias de los politraumatizados para la inmovilización durante el transporte en condiciones de guerra y desastres, sin perder su indicación como tratamiento definitivo. Se muestran los resultados de la aplicación clínica en 42 pacientes con fracturas en quienes se usó el fijador externo lineal, que evolucionaron satisfactoriamente, se evitó el tratamiento de una cirugía abierta principalmente en el paciente anciano fracturado de cadera, se obtuvo una disminución del tiempo de estadía hospitalaria.
