Abstract

Desde 1993 en nuestro centro se ha aplicado la hidroxiapatita porosa HAP-200 en coordinación con el Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas de Cuba (CNIC), en la generalización de la aplicación de este producto en Ortopedia y Traumatología, demostrando su gran biocompatibilidad y biointegración por sus propiedades osteoconductivas; es uno de los biomateriales en la actualidad más empleados por diferentes especialidades para prótesis y en el relleno de cavidades, tanto en fracturas, tumoraciones como en pseudoartrosis. Un aspecto negativo que se le ha señalado es que es nada o poco reabsorbible; en este trabajo se muestra el seguimiento en un total de 32 pacientes operados por diferentes causas; 21 fracturas, 8 pseudoartrosis, 2 tumoraciones y 1 artrodesis Se observó al cabo de 10 años de un seguimiento lineal radiográfico diferentes niveles de transformación por paso a tejido óseo de la HAP-200, que demuestra una nueva propiedad.
